Branding Inspiration: Logan Wines

on September 3rd, 2010

Brand identity work for Logan Wines by Clinton Duncan, of PDC Creative. And I must say, this brand application just tickles me pink with joy, as it is exuberant yet minimalistic, heartfelt yet elegant. Very much removed from geometrical precision and bravely tactile.

on August 27th, 2010

3 Free Logos (Vector)

on May 17th, 2010

Just cleaning through my dead concepts library – concepts that for various reasons did not make it, but are still stored away on my computer. I suppose I might as well give them away for free, maybe they’ll be useful to someone. Free for personal use – not for resale. A link back to this […]

Awesome Logo for Sash Vet Clinic

on May 12th, 2010

Another logo I came across during my Sydney adventures; this one belongs to the Small Animals Specialist Hospital. Why it’s great Friendly, comforting and cheerful – and admire the distressed “a”, like a wounded animal, supported and aided by the other letters. Love it – if someone knows the designer let me know!

Your logo: think of it like a tattoo for your business

on April 7th, 2010

Whether you like tattoos or not, you probably know they are painful to get, disastrous to get wrong and rather difficult to remove. In other words, they’re there to stay – and you better like them even when you’re old and wrinkled.

If the world’s biggest painters would work in logo design

on August 30th, 2009

In the spirit of illustration (and illustrious) fun, this is my take of what would happen if some of the world’s biggest painters would work in logo design. I’m sure, of course, that they would do a much better job than me, but this would be the outcome as I picture it, with the Google […]

Logo design: beautiful black & white logos

on February 8th, 2009

I know this has been done before (see the references at the end of this article), but I really feel like talking about monochromatic, in particular black&white logos and symbols and how beautifully and meaningfully they can create an instantly recognisable identity for brands, companies and concepts. Starting with some well known and successful examples. […]

Oh dear. The Macquarie University logo disaster.

on February 6th, 2009

Gotta love this one. I was just reading David Airey’s “Is your logo design phallic” article yesterday; and what do I come across today? Yep, obviously, another brilliant – and high-profile – example.
