Beautiful portraits: Candice Wouters

I initially meant to do a post on portraits; and then I got stuck on Candice Wouters, a South African born photographer now living in London, whose work I stumbled upon while browsing for something or the other on Flickr. It was a bit inconvenient that her photos come in fairly small sizes, but even [...]

Superbowl Ads 2010: My Top 10

Moodboard: Jacarandas and the blues

I know this is a bit left-field, but I felt a different vibe today and had to get it of my chest. Sydney was so grey and green and full of jacaranda flowers, and I felt so…well, a bit like this: Moodboard The soundtrack References Dietmar Busse Light of Hope Jacarandas

User Interface principles in web design – a return to the basics

There is much hype surrounding website UI design, and a large variety of tools claiming to help optimise the said interface; however, the most useful piece of theory I have found on the topic is dated 1998 and was written by somebody called Talin, whose home page now returns a 404. It was written with reference to program design rather than website design, but I think these 14 principles apply cross-topic.

Fashion illustration: Sandra Suy

I came across Sandra Suy's work quite recently; I just love fashion illustration (probably because I used to do a bit of it myself in a previous life); and Sandra's work is sharp, and minimalistic, and beautiful.
