Steve Jobs died yesterday and the news pretty much paralised me for most of today. I hadn’t realised how much this one man did for me. How many of the things I love in my life I owe to him and his vision. So I have to say this, as publicly as I can:
Thank you Steve. For my tools of the trade, for my toys, for giving me the means to create things I can be proud of. For making it believable that it is not necessary to compromise on one’s dreams. For making it that bit easier for me not to compromise on mine. Thank you and I hope you’re having fun reinventing Paradise.
And for the rest of us? We’ll get there soon enough, so in the meanwhile:
“Here’s to the crazy ones, the misfits, the rebels, the troublemakers, the round pegs in the square holes… The ones who see things differently – they’re not fond of rules. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them, but the only thing you can’t do is ignore them because they change things. They push the human race forward, and while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius, because the ones who are crazy enough to think that they can change the world, are the ones who do.”
