Accurate Portrait of Vlad the Impaler as vampire

on August 20th, 2010

Just a bit of lighthearted randomness to kick-start this Friday morning (made me laugh so much I kind of got over my headache).

Florin Ene, aka Battlow on DeviantArt, has an awesome take on Vlad Tepes (The Impaler), a cross between his history books portrait and Bram Stoker fangs. Pretty cool.

The fangs

The original

For the purists. You have to admit the resemblance of Florin’s bust to the original is striking. Minus the added clasp, that reads DWL: the devil is in the detail – quite literally.

The impaling

What made Vlad famous: the tendency to impale anyone who pissed him off – and occasionally eat his lunch under the stakes, as depicted here. Not for delicate stomachs, this one.

The incomprehensible

Apparently Sam Worthington will be playing Vlad in the upcoming Dracula: Year Zero. Don’t get me wrong, I love the kid, he’s very cute; but Dracula?! Vlad must be turning in his grave and wish very fervently for a stake.
