A modern take on typewriter fonts

on July 15th, 2010

FF Suhmo is a new release from FontShop (celebrating 20 years in 2010!).

Inspired by classic fonts such as Courier and American Typewriter, Suhmo is a contemporary take on typewriter fonts, with a subtle playfulness in its loops and swashes and a slight stroke contrast. The forms are derived from the handwriting process and often cross the baseline or the x-height. Suhmo’s extensive character set includes numerous special characters and ligatures, several figure sets and small caps throughout all 8 styles.

What I particularly love are the ligatures in Suhmo Pro and OT – a thing of beauty! And speaking of FontShop: they have released 15 new web fonts, and have a 30% discount on all web fonts. If you want to go hoarding, this is the time. Details about the promo here.
