The good news: you can actually use these images (a link back would be appreciated).
The bad news: these are free to use ONLY after you have bought the reference images from Shutterstock. Using them without a licence will constitute copyright infringement. The price is very moderate: 29 dollars for 5 small images (or 2 large jpegs or vectors); that won’t break the bank.
To buy the reference image click on the respective thumbnail. Enjoy!

Oh my. They are all so cute! Makes you want to wish that every page you go to cannot be found.
Now if only every website would use nicer 404 page illustrations… :D

You can, but only after you buy the respective reference image (the illustration used for the graphic) from Shutterstock.com. Click on the graphic you’re interested in to buy the respective image.

Great pictures and I bet there are very functional in keeping people on your site. A typical ‘ugly’ 404 usually equals a lost visitor.

They are really nice designs. I agree with Kris that they are really functional. Cool designs for a 404 error page. A really brilliant idea. Thank you for sharing them.:)

Thanks :) I’m actually using all of them on my 404 (not all at the same time, they alternate of course)

The page with the cat is very cute. “look at my eyes and repeat”.
Thank you for collecting these cute 404 pages.

Thanks – I haven’t really collected them; I designed them, and had lots of fun with it, too :)

Wow! This illustrations are really nice. Bad enough a 404 error is the most common one, but how about other errors? What kind of illustration for a 500 error?

Lol, internal server error? What a great idea, it would be useful on days of maintenance when things go haywire…

How do you find having the u comment i follow badge on your website? do you find it leads to more interesting debate overall? I’m thinking of trying it on a few of my blogs but I’m not sure. On one side its a good way of attracting interest for articles and increasing the content on your website but on the other you could be inundated with moderating comments.
